The program includes several real-life success stories of former inmates who used their vocational training to find good jobs. - "The Real Truth About Real Jobs," a six-part, 90-minute video production and workbook on employment issues for incarcerated youth, being aired on SAFETY- NET. - "Joe Land Motivational," two eight-hour motivational programs for Florida offenders (one for males, one for females) given by Joe Land, motivational speaker. It was produced with three cameras on a custom designed and constructed mobile set. - "A Step Up: Vocational Programs That Work For Everyone," a half-hour documentary on Florida correctional vocational programs, also aired on the Sunshine Network. - "Your Way Out to Stay Out," A 97-minute, six-part documentary-style motivational series for Florida female offenders, now in national distribution. - "Storytelling and Bookmaking," a 30-minute educational program for the parents and caregivers involved in the Florida Department of Corrections Even Start literacy program. - "Finding Inspiration Through Reading and Writing," a half-hour SAFETY-NET student education program given by Sharon Draper, motivational speaker and winner of the national Teacher of the Year award. - "Poetry: The Power of Words," a half-hour SAFETY-NET student education program given by Sharon Draper, motivational speaker and winner of the national Teacher of the Year award. - "Poetry in the Classroom," a one-hour student education program produced at the Industry School in New York, featuring poet Omanii Abdullah and aired on SAFETY-NET. STAFF TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT - "Forced Cell Extraction: A Training Program," a half-hour training program on forced cell extraction for Florida Correctional Officers, now in national distribution. - "Your Way Out to Stay Out Teacher's Instruction Guide," a 15-minute introduction and teaching guide to the "Your Way Out to Stay Out" female inmate motivation series. - "Teaching Science in a Youth Correctional Environment," a 15-minute program produced at the Industry School in New York, and aired on SAFETY-NET. - "Teaching Math in a Multi-Level Classroom," a 15-minute SAFETY-NET production, produced at Hernando Correctional Institution. - "Remembering Why I Became a Teacher," a half-hour SAFETY-NET professional education program for teachers given by Sharon Draper, motivational speaker and winner of the national Teacher of the Year award. - "Interactive Reading with Dr. Donna Richardson," a 30-minute program on teaching the benefits of using interactive reading methods, for both educational staff and to inmate parents. PUBLIC RELATIONS/PROMOTIONAL - "SAFETY-NET Logo," A 40-second symbolic representation of what SAFETY- NET was all about. This was partially produced using FSU Circus facilities and an FSU Circus performer and received rave reviews from SAFETY-NET staff and correctional educators. - "The Florida Construction Trades Training Program," A 9-minute mini-DVD enclosed in a brochure mailer, being used to enlist legislative support for the continued support of a new vocational training for current inmates, and that also finds them a job in their field upon release. - "Your Hiring Resource: Correctional Vocational Students," An 11-minute program for potential employers of former inmates. Along with real-life success stories, this program details the benefits of hiring DOC vocational students and/or partnering with DOC on training. - "From Inmate to Citizen," a half-hour documentary on the Gainesville Drug Rehabilitation Center, aired on the Sunshine Network. - "An Introduction to Even Start," a 15-minute introductory program on the Even Start literacy program being expanded in Florida Correctional Institutions. - "Our Public-Private Partnerships," a 10-minute DVD/Brochure combination designed to introduce corporate entities to the benefits of job training partnerships with the Florida Department of Corrections.
